Career Exploration and Success (CES) at Rutgers University–New Brunswick seeks an innovative and strategic professional to serve as Career Counseling Officer (New Student Career Engagement) (UHR Title: Career Counseling Officer). This role leads the development and expansion of early career engagement initiatives that embed career exploration into the first-year student experience.
The Career Counseling Officer provides leadership for the expansion of First-Year Interest Group Seminars (FIGS), including the design and implementation of a course model focused on self-discovery and career exploration. The position is responsible for advancing scalable, high-impact programming that connects students’ academic experiences with career pathways early in their college journey.
Reporting to the Associate Director for New Student Career Engagement, this role also oversees the Intern for a Day (IFAD) program and leads the Discovery & Exploration Career Community. The position supervises undergraduate Peer Instructors and graduate staff, manages cross-campus partnerships, and contributes to the strategic direction of early career programming. The role requires strong leadership, independent judgment, and the ability to design and scale initiatives in a fast-paced, student-centered environment.
